Millie’s must have lashes!

20121027-000120.jpg

Hi everyone!
I am off to Barcelona and Paris this week and thought that before I jet off I would tell you about my latest fabulous purchase. I will definately be packing these in my suitcase!

Whether you are a ‘Made In Chelsea’ fan like me, or not, you can’t deny the beauty or stunning wardrobe that this lovely lady pocesses!

20121027-000612.jpg

Yes those legs are to die for and I am very jealous. I love this outfit. Each week I look forward to a new episode of Millie Makintosh’s show, eager to see what fabulous fashion trend she is suiting next!

How excited was I, to hear that Millie now has her own collection of false eyelashes! I had to buy some of course.

I decided to go for the Portobello lashes as they looked nicely shaped with longer lashes at the sides and a little less ‘full on’ than some of the others.

Now, I do not wear false lashes very often so when I do, I don’t want to be faffing around for ages trying to get them on. These lashes designed by Millie Makintosh sold by Noveau Lashes, are so light and easy to apply. The glue is also strong and eye friendly.

I will admit, when the lashes arrived I was worried they were a little over the top for me as they are very long and full, but once I had a applied some eyeliner and added them to the whole look, they looked fab! I couldn’t even feel them as they were so light, and they were a very flattering shape!
Now I want to try the other pairs!

To view the stunning Millie modelling the eyelashes herself, pop along to Youtube and watch pixi2woo in her makeup tutorial video!

From Portobello to Barcelona, I will make sure to take plenty of snaps for a holiday post on my return!

Until then, have a happy week and feel free to comment with any must sees in Barcelona or Paris!

I could’t be without…

20121025-172315.jpg
Hello happy readers,
Winter is closing in on us, the hats and gloves are coming out and with the cold weather brings frozen toes and dry skin. This product tackles the latter brilliantly, and I couldn’t be without it!

About a year ago a blog I was following mentioned the Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream. I decided to buy it and whilst searching for it online I came across a lip balm version on Ebay at a cheaper price! Since then I have purchased two more.
This is why:

– smells good
– feels moisturising but not sticky
– magically fixes chapped lips
– great for popping on before lippie
– cute packaging
– lasts a long time

I think that is enough to justify its place on a my ‘Couldn’t be withoutlist!

Is there a product you couldn’t be without?

Happy blogging! 🙂 xx

BBC 1 – The Paradise Review

20121020-212011.jpg

I know this is not in fitting with my usual posts but there is a slight link to fashion here, and well I just had to write about it. That is the purpose of blogging I guess!

I am always a fan of period dramas like Downton Abbey etc but this particular programme completely swept me away!
The Paradise is a drama based in the 1870’s following a complex love story and the opening of the first department store in England. Featuring a selection of old and new faces the series ventures into the twists and turns of 19th century love and retail.

Young Denise moves into town to live with her Grandfather. She soon finds a job in the new department store and finds herself inspired by the store, the clothing and the people inside. The owner of the store,Mr Moray, is quite taken by Denise, not only for her beauty but also her intelligence and ambition. He soon battles with his affections for her, his lenders daughter and his late wife.

20121020-214317.jpg
Take a moment to consider all of the things that make the perfect period drama series. I think this has them all:

– Beautiful, powerful woman check
– Serious, rich, handsome man check
– A selection of goodies/baddies and lesson learners check
– Stunning sets and scenery check
– Fabulous costumes check
– Love, death, new life, affairs, class mixing, humour, friendship and much more check

20121020-214423.jpg
I was transfixed from the moment I watched episode one on iplayer. I then proceeded to watch the next three episodes in one go. Now I eagerly await next week’s update from the beautiful 19th century fashion world.

So, if you haven’t seen it, do!

Happy watching bloggers! 🙂 xxx

Beauty HAUL & Give away!

It’s finally the weekend, and after a strict month of working hard and no spending I decided to take myself to the shops!

Today’s shopping trip seemed to focus on makeup and accessories rather than clothes; Thats just the way it is sometimes, as you well know.

I was particularly taken with a few stands. Topshop had a great array of golden jewellery of which I am a big fan. I loved their collection of winter hats, gloves and scarves too (I couldn’t help trying on a fur hat and scarf). They also had a very large colourful collection of nail varnishes!

20121020-191221.jpg
I stepped into John Lewis and right into heaven at the Liz Earle counter. There is something theraputic about staring at a perfectly organised stand of calm green bottles (sad I know).

My main stop was Superdrug with the objective of buying my give away prize. Of course I ended up buying myself a few bits too, who wouldn’t?!

HAUL

20121020-191422.jpg
1.Liz Earle- Cleanse & polish with lavender and rose
I have been waiting to buy this special edition cleanser since the Liz Earle mag came through my door last month. Today I gave in and bought it. It is a lovely big bottle (150ml) and smells so pretty!

2.H&M- dark red blush tights
It is time to bring out the tights and I couldn’t resist this autumn red pair.

3.Maybelline-colorsensational cream gloss in Stellar Berry
I posted recently about a brown (coffee) version of this and I have worn it so much I thought I would get a pinky/red one to pop over my autumn lipsticks. I really like the orangey scent these have and the texture is perfect!

4.Clairol- brunette colorseal gloss
During the Summer I was using a Clairol hair dye on my hair. The little sachet of conditoner that can with made my hair feel amazing. Although I am now using a different brand for my hair colour, I spotted this little tube of conditioner today that I am hoping will leave my hair as silky as the sachets did.

L’oreal- casting creme gloss 28 wash in Chocolate Truffle
I have been dying my own hair for many years now. There have been patches where I have used a hairdresser but as I like to change my colour throughout the year I save a lot of money doing it myself. I have been gradually darkening my hair the last couple of months and think this warm medium brown will be perfect for Winter.

Give Away!
It has been so lovely to recieve so many comments this week. I love discussing makeup with you all so much and wish that every post gave me the opportunity to share thoughts with others as the give away post has. I spent a good whole deciding what to choose for the prize. I ended up buying:

20121020-195002.jpg
Sleek- Rose Gold blush
A fun shimmery gold/pink blusher.

Rimmel- 60sec nail polish in Euphoria & Glam’eyes liquid liner in black
I thought the nail polish went with the blusher well and that it would appeal to most people.

I really hope you guys will like the products that I chose as I am really looking forward to posting them out to the lucky winner!

Remember, to enter simply:
– follow frombeauty2fashion
– like the giveaway post
– leave a comment telling me what your favourite high street/ drugstore brand is and why!

Have a great weekend everyone!

My First Giveaway! Yay!

When I started blogging not that long ago I was so excited to gain my first follower! Now I feel it is time to celebrate as I have 50 followers! This may seem a small step for all you fabulous pro bloggers out there, but for me it is an exciting day and I wanted to celebrate by doing my first ever giveaway!

One of my favourite high street discoveries this year has been the SLEEK products! I really love them as they are so highly pigmented and blend so well! I love the eye shadow pallettes and the blushes the most. Here is a pic of my collection so far!

20121018-232136.jpg
My first giveaway is going to be small but sweet! I will be posting a little SLEEK treat to the winner with a big smile and a thank you!

Entering is easy as pie!
1. Like this post!
2. You need to be a fashion2beauty follower.
3. Comment below telling me your favourite high street brand ( cheaper drugstore eg maybelline, revlon, loreal) and why.

The winner will be picked at random on Friday 26th October!

A little disclaimer: SLEEK have not sponsored this giveaway. All views are my own and products bought from my pocket 🙂

October GLOSSYBOX

20121017-191201.jpg

Yay, it’s that time of the month I look forward to when my GLOSSYBOX arrives on my welcome mat!

Just to quickly pop back to last month, I shall of course let you know of any ‘must haves’ from the September box.

There were two favourites for me and I have actually posted about them both since!
1.Lady Gaga FAME fragrance
So sexy, I love it! I am hoping to recieve this as a gift for my birthday ( not that my boyfriend reads my blog to get the hint).
2. Vichy moisturising cream
This is a lovely scented product that leaves my face soft and smooth!

So onto the October box!
My first impression is that it is quite a good selection. GLOSSY have claimed this months box a selection of lavish treats for an indulgent cosy night in as Winter draws closer. Im not necessarily convinced that I would use these on a pamper evening as some of the products are more of a ‘day time’ treat but I am definately not dissapointed!

20121017-192121.jpg

Dr. Jart – Premium Beauty Balm £24

I am certainly a BB cream convert this year and am looking forward to giving this a go. It smells good and feels very soft on the skin. Not quite the right colour for me but BB creams are quite forgiving as they blend in so well.

First thought score : 7/10

20121017-192633.jpg

Yves Rocher- Moisturising Lipstick in Mauve £14.50

Dark lips are in, and this lipstick is a yummy dark mauve colour. It is also quite moisturising, highly pigmented and applied very well. The last Yves Rocher mascara from a previous GLOSSYBOX was a product a ended up buying full size so I am pleased to have another product by this brand.

First thought score: 8/10

20121017-193137.jpg

Anatomicals grapefruit scrub £3.49

I haven’t come across this brand before and as it is cheap in full size don’t feel too spoilt as yet, however it does smell very yummy. Grapefruit is one of my fave fruity scents!

First thought score: 6/10

20121017-193457.jpg
Skinetica – Anti-Blemish £6.99

I don’t really get spots as such, my skin issues are normally under the skin but I will have a go with this the next time I do get a blemish. If it does work it is a good price which would make it a handy go to to keep in the cupboard.
A big drawback for me is the wide opening. I have taken the lid off twice and both times I’ve ended up with my hands covered in the quite strong smelling liquid!

First thought score: 5/10

20121017-200155.jpg
Olay- fragrance free treatement cream £29.99

I’m sure I have tried the scented version of this before although I have never been an avid Olay user. I have no reason for this except maybe Ive always seen it as a ‘mum’ product. I am looking forward to giving it a good go though and it feels quite light which I like in a moisturiser.

First thought score: 7/10

There you have it, a good selection of goodies to trial. As always I shall let you know how I get on. Keep an eye out for any of the products that may feature in later posts!

Do you use any of these products already?

Thanks for reading,
Bye bye 🙂 xx

A Cheeky Childish HAUL

20121012-190625.jpg
Everyone has their own way of being childish and making themselves feel young when life is in ‘adult mode’.
My boyfriend plays with lego and rides his bike, my dad plays on computer games and my mum does colouring in!

I buy childish things! Sometimes it’s a toy, a book, or a pair of novelty socks. Yesterday it was a silly hat!
It is getting colder, and you can never ever have too many scalves and hats! So while doing boring adult shopping in Tesco, I snuck this animal beanie and snood into my basket!

20121012-190704.jpg
There was me thinking no one would notice I was wearing a hat with whiskers and bobble ears when I ventured into London early this morning. The man at the coffee stand laughed and asked me what animal it was, many people had a cheeky look on the train, and then the poet delivering my course removed it from my head and wore it himself!
All round a cheerful good buy! Yay!

What do you do to make when you want to feel like a kid again?

October Wish List!

20121007-210526.jpg
Oh I do love to window shop, or in this case, screen shop! I have been doing the usual surfing for things I can’t afford.
This month’s wish list has a good mixture of quite possible buys and ‘not on your nelly’ products! There are also a few non beauty or fashion items which need a little explaining!

1.Revlon Nail Polish- Autumn Berry £6.49
First up is a nail polish I discovered through a simple ‘autumn nail polish’ google search!

20121007-110811.jpg
This polish is so pretty! It is a deep red, burgandy colour with gold glitter dust in. I haven’t worn a shinmery polish for a while but this one looks perfect for Autumn nails!

2. Noble Isles shower gel £20
A few months ago I had the pleasure of receiving a sample bottle of this in a Glossybox. It is beautiful! So luxurious and expensive smelling!

20121007-111629.jpg
I would love to know what the rest of the range smells like. I can only imagine the pear one smells like heaven.
Sadly this product is £20 for a 250ml bottle which at the moment is a bit too much. Maybe one day! It is my brithday soon!

3. YSL Volupté Sheer Candy lipstick- luscious cherry £23.50
This Summer I fell in love with the Revlon lip butters as I love bright colours but find them hard to apply without making a mess! After watching a video by EssieButton I fell in love with this YSL version of a lipstick balm.

20121007-212010.jpg
The colour is so cute, a juicy pink red that seems to have the ability to build colour or to use as a tinted balm. Apparently it smells yummy too!

4. Millie Makintosh lashes- Portabello £8.99
I have been coverting these lashes since I first spotted then on Millie’s twitter feed.

20121007-212642.jpg
I have since read so many reviews celebrating the natural look and feel of them. The Portabello style are the ones I fancy. They look full yet light. I would love to hear from anyone that has tried them.

5.Lady Gaga Fame perfume £24.50 30ml

If you read my latest Glossybox review you will see my enthusiam for this fragrance. I have already used up my sample and am hoping to hint at my boyfriend to buy me this for my up coming birthday!

20121007-213422.jpg
It smells so good, even though it feels so bad. The deep floral scent is not something I would normally go for but this smells so luxurious and sexy.

6. Liz Earle cleanse and polish – Lavender £19.75
Oh golly this excites me! As you may already know I am religious member od the Liz Earle fan club and use the cleanse and polish everyday!

20121007-213943.jpg
Of course I am extremely eaher to get this limited edition that contains lavender as well as all the other beautiful ingredients that the orignal does. I am eager for my current bottle to run out so that I can say I need to go and buy it.

7 & 8
Aside from beauty and fashion I have had a very busy few weeks hunting for a house for my boyfriend and I. This has been as many of you will know, both exciting and a little stressful! Adding a set of house keys to my wish list is therefore a must. I am always unsire of how far to venture from beauty and fashion here but let me know i you fancy any further updates on this situation.
In addition to the house hunt, I have decided that if and when we do get a house I would like a little doggy friend to keep me company in it! Now I have never been a hige fan of dogs but recently visited a friend with a very cute one and I instantly felt the need to obtain one as soon as possible! This wosh may not last very long once I begin to consider the practocality, but for now I like the idea of a cute fluffy companion!

20121007-215256.jpg
There you have it, my October wish list!
Do you have any of these items?

Come back soon,

Love Shali 🙂 xx
