Hello Everyone,

It’s been a very hot week here in the UK, and my July GLOSSYBOX – Seaside Splash couldn’t have arrived at a better time. Of course this Summer addition of the beauty box is packed with colour and skin care for sunny days on the beach. I know I’m going to love a few of these products and have my fingers crossed for the rest. Let’s get going!

july7Ciate London – Paint Pot in The Glossip, Full Size £9.00

This polish is lovely! The formula is extremely pigmented and I think in a hurry you could definitely get away with one coat. It also dried pretty quick and the colour is a  gorgeously bright coral. I’m really excited about this beauty.

july6Sleek – Pout Paint in Pinkini & Lava, Full Size £4.99 each

Wowza these sure do pack a punch of colour! I tried this on a good while back and didn’t get any as at the time I wasn’t such a brave lipstick wearer. Now however, they are a fantastic addition to on growing collection of lip products. The formula really is like a paint (be careful with clothes and furniture, this is a bad boy to wash out). The formula is matte and extremely pigmented which at first can appear a little scary. You can blend a tiny amount onto your lips for a more subtle colour though and they do last a very long time. I like that you can mix the colours together to create your own shades. I can’t wait to mix up a bright coral with these two.

Alterna Haircare – Bamboo Style Boho Waves Tousled Texture Mist, Full Size £23.00

What a mouthful! I’ve not come across this brand before, but then I’m not very good with hair products. I do have a salt spray which I assume is similar to this texturizing mist and have to admit I use it very rarely. I just don’t have the hair for a good ‘messy’ look. I shall however, give it a go and for those of you with a natural kink in your hair I’m sure it would be very fun to have a play around with.

july4Coola – Organic Suncare Face SPF30 cucumber moisturizer, full size £25.99

With a full size tube at that price I shall be making the most of this little one. I don’t actually own a sun cream specifically designed for the face as I tend to splatter my general one all over, and lots of my foundations and bb creams have spf in too. I like the idea of this yummy cucumber scented cream. I think I’ll have a go at wearing it underneath my foundation in the hot weather next week and see if it does the job well.

july3Anatomicals – Spray Misty for me facial spritz, full size £6.00

I feel a little ‘meh’ about this product. I’m not a fan of face mists and this one doesn’t have any particular draw for me either. The scent is ok, the spray a little uneven and the packaging isn’t to my taste, but I shall pop it in my bag if I ever get a chance to lie by a pool this Summer.

I have to say I’m very impressed with this month’s box and am quite excited about the products inside. Just taking a quick look back at last month’s box, I thought I would share my fave. I have worn this Nuxe oil on the top of my cheek bones an awful lot this month. It leaves such a lovely golden glow to the skin. june2

Hello Everyone,

First off I wanted to share with you my favourite product from last month’s box.

may4This tiny little tub has been emptied from everyday use and I definitely intend on buy the full size product. I enjoyed this product so much that it even made its way onto my May Favourites, something I don’t think a beauty box product has done before. I have experimented with this mixing media to create cream blushes, and shadows but the best way to use it is to mix it up into foundation for a smooth, flawless look. When I was younger, before I bought decent foundations, I always used to add a little moisturiser into them to rid of any caking. This product gives similar results and is perfect for using up any thicker or more cakey foundations you may have lying around, instantly turning them into the perfect formula.

glossybox june 13

Moving onto more recent excitement; my June box is here and I like it. Bright and Summery, the products in the box look like winners to me and I have already had a go at most of them. Here we go:

june2NUXE – Huile Prodigieuse OR 100ml £34

Pictures cannot show how stunning this product is. I have never seen anything so gold! This is a multi-purpose product that can be used on the face, body and hair. As a dry oil it isn’t sticky at all and soaks into the skin quickly, leaving behind a very subtle shimmery glow. After reading my fave blogger Essie Button‘s review on this product just days before my box arrived, I am very excited to try it on my hair. Go check out her post for a more detailed look into the product. I think this is a big winner!

figs & rouge

Figs & Rouge- Cherry Blossom £5

The packaging does appear to replicate my favourite balm brand ‘L’Occitaine’ but it’s funky and bright and the lip balm inside is different to any products I have in my lip collection. I don’t very often go for sparkly lips but this formula is actually quite cute. The shimmer particles are tiny and the pink is just sheer enough to give a hint of colour without being too much. I like it and think it will look great on sunny days with simple eye makeup. The only drawback for me is that it has no scent and does taste a little ‘plasticky’.

helen E eyeshadow

Helen E Cosmetics – Shimmer Eye Powder £5

If you like a sparkly pigment then this is for you! Very similar to Barry M & Mac’s it packs on beautiful glittery colour and lasts a long time. I’m not really a pink eye shadow girl but this is fun and I’m sure I will get use out of it as its so pretty. I also love the little tub it comes in, although I haven’t mastered the awkward lid yet.

mememe nail polish

MEMEME Cosmetics – Long Lasting Nail Gloss

I don’t own any products from this brand but on first inspection I loved the colour. I was pleased to read that it had a maxi-brush for application. This is normally something I prefer as I find it easier to apply neatly with just three strokes of the brush. Sadly, the end of this brush wasn’t cut straight so application was very difficult. I would hope this was an error on my brush alone as it really did spoil the product for me, especially when the formula was shiny and long-lasting.

monu moistureMONU Professional Skincare – Hydrating Moisturiser spf15 50ml £29.99

I have had a few of the MONU products in past boxes and to be honest have never really taken to them. I always find the packaging a little tatty cheap, which as I haven’t ever seen a full size product could just be the quality used for testers. I am always on the lookout for a good face cream though so will be sure to give this a go and see if it lives up to its toning and perfecting promises.

Overall I’m pretty pleased with the bunch this month. I can’t wait to use some of the products and will be sure to let you know if any make my must-have list.

Hello Everyone,

It feel like it’s been a long month waiting for my box. I already knew that GLOSSYBOX were celebrating their 2nd Birthday so my expectations for a special box were high.

At first glance I was surprised to see the amount of ‘black’ products, considering the birthday theme. This slight disappointment disappeared when I got a closer look at most of the products. As well as a few well-known brands, there are some full size products, which I always think is a bonus.

Before I take you inside the box I wanted to take a step back to last month to reveal any products that I have really enjoyed and that I would recommend to you.

This beauty is probably the only product that I have made full use of this month. I was very excited about it in May, and still love it now! The colour is called Nice to be Nice and is perfect for those pastel outfits and sunny days.

Now, in we go:

may5COLLECTION – Fast Stroke Eyeliner £2.99

I already have a love some of the extremely well priced COLLECTION (aka collection 2000) products and was pleased to see a replacement for my quite ancient eye liner. If you like a brush tip liner then this will do you well. It creates a semi thin line that glides easily across the eyelid and isn’t too thin and runny.

may1JELLY PONG PONG – Fairy Lashes Mascara £15

Full RRP of this mascara is quite pricey so I am happy to have received a full size product. The wand appears to be pretty basic, nothing fancy, and the casing is a little cheap looking. The formula isn’t clumpy and slightly lengthens the lashes but all in all it isn’t anything special and I’m not convinced I would ever want to pay full price for it.

may4Beautiful Movements Cosmetics – Prime & Create Mixing Medium, Full Size £20

This is one of those products that you truly hope will work as advertised. The idea of being able to create cream blushes, foundations and eye shadows sounds like such fun. The sample size is very small but I intend to have a good go at creating some pretty mixes with it. Just from rubbing a tiny amount on y hand I can tell it will be a lovely primer if nothing else as it has instantly left my skin incredibly soft. I shall report back to you on this one in next months box review.

may2Awapuhi Wild Ginger, Shine Spray £18.95

This is a Paul Mitchell, pricey hair product and I love that we were given a full size bottle of it this month. The scent is lovely and it gives a good shine to my hair. What more is there to say. Very happy! 🙂

may6HEADLINE COLORS, Poolside Pary Polish £9

I’ve not heard of this brand before, although with this price tag I feel I should have. I have to say I am quite disappointed that I received a not so ‘poolside’ colour; black. It does have a little shimmer to it and the formula is very pigmented but sadly I just won’t wear it often as I’m not really a dark nail polish fan.

Glossy Extra Treats – Mini Nail Files & Green & Blacks Mini Chocolate Bar

A GLOSSYBOX wouldn’t be complete without an extra treat. This time we have two. Of course nail files are always handy but I appreciate the chocolate a little more. Thanks!

Overall I am pretty happy with this months box. It is always hard to tell this early on if I am going to enjoy any of the products so stay tuned for next months for updates on any Wow products.

GLOSSYBOX April 2013

Hello Everyone,

My long-awaited GLOSSYBOX is here! I try so hard not to look at posts before mine arrives (often days after others), but this time I may have caught sight of the deliciously vintage style box and had my fingers crossed for a few items. I like that everyone gets a different selection of goodies, that is untill someone gets something that I would have loved.

I am really pleased with this month’s box. Aswell as the stunning box, which I will be using as storage for my ever-growing makeup stash, the five items inside are lovely! Some are more than lovely, and I did jump up and down at one. The sun briefly popped its head out today, so I ran outside to take some snaps before it went back into hiding. Let’s get started.

aprilnail6Essie Nail Lacquer – Nice is Nice

I have to start with the cream of the crop. I mean who doesn;t adore an Essie polish? Out of the fifteen possible shades I received this beautiful lilac. I own two other purple polishes, one very vibrant and the other extremely light. This shade fits perfectly between the two. I love pastels that have a grey tone to them. This is verging on mink. Lovely!

april1NIP + FAB – Dry Skin Body Butter in Pistachio

I often see this brand in shops but have never bought anything. Aside from the fact that it looks a little bit like a tub of snot or putty, and I would have loved the mango, this is a great product. It smells yummy and it leaves my skin feeling soft and hydrated. Any other recommendations from the brand?

april3MODELCO – Cheek + Lip Tint in Rosey Red

This little tube is usually a pricey one at £15 so I expect it to work well. I was once tempted to by a Benefit product that looks similar to this but wasn’t brave enough. I’m not sure the shade is particularly Spring like, and rubbed into to my hand it does resemble a bruise, but on the cheeks and lips it stains well (Bioderma needed) and I look forward to giving it a go, maybe for an evening look.

aprilperf5YVES ROCHER FRANCE – Eau De Parfum

This is a popular brand with GLOSSYBOX. They are a great company for giving free bit away and the catalogue that arrives each month is always full of offers. I absolutely love their Sexy Pulp Mascara, but haven’t yet bought anything else from them that GLOSSYBOX have tempted me with. I do love that this taster actually comes in a mini bottle, unlike the normal testers that come in the tiny tube sprays. If I say it just smells like perfume, pro perfume buyers will probably be disgusted at my lack of sniffing skills, but it does. It smells how I imagine the average perfume to smells; floral and strong.

aprilspf4SUNSENSE- Daily Face SPF

I have never come across this brand before but a tinted SPF face cream is always handy. It is very light in colour but smooths out almost transparent anyway. My main concern is the lack of lid. It is a small tube but I don’t see myself using it up in one go. Once that top is snapped off, that seems to be it.

I am very much looking forward to experimenting with these. Now that I have posted I would love to see what other items and shades people got in their boxes. Please do comment with a link to your page if you have a GLOSSYBOX post this month.

GLOSSYBOX March 2013

Hello Everyone,

Due to a moving mishap I didn’t receive my GLOSSYBOX last month so imagine how excited I was to see this on my doorstep this morning!

This month’s box appears to have some kind of travel booklet thingy with it, which I am a little unsure of, although it does contain some pretty sticker. I have popped them onto my box to pretty it up a little. Does anyone else keep their beauty boxes and use them as storage for their copious amounts of makeup?

Here’s the line up:

I must admit I wasn’t wowed at the products this month. For some reason the amount of products seemed a little low, or maybe this was due to their size not taking up much of the box. I was however quite pleased with the actual products as they are all well-known to me and some are already favourites.

Jelly Pong Pong- Lip Blush £12

I love a lip stain, and this one is very pigmented. Unlike my fave Revlon ones, this doesn’t have a pretty smell, in fact it has no scent at all. The texture is nice, pretty moisturising. Colour wise, I think will be great for the Summer. I don’t love it as much as other brands I have but it is a good product considering it costs more than the beauty box itself.

glossy3 Nail Inc – Bruton St. Full Size £11

What a beautiful colour! Dusky pink is always lovely, and this will look so elegant on my nails (once I grow them back again). Ooo it’s like a little bunch of roses in a bottle.

glossy 9

Elizabeth Arden- Eight Hour Cream, full size £25

Oh my! This has to be one of my favourite products of all time. I have the bottle, the lip balm stick and now a handy little travel tube. I remember being uneased by this cream actually being a thick gel when I first used it after hearing people rave about it. It didn’t take long for me to fall in love with its moisturising powers. You all need this… you really do!

Juicy Couture – Couture La La, full size £63

Now for some reason I always feel a little ‘meh’ when I get a perfume in a beauty box. It’s not that I don’t like wearing perfume but I’m certainly bot very good at it. I have moments where these little tester tubes seems like a fab idea; carry it around, use different ones, choose a fave. Sadly I always just seem to forget I have them and I now have a little stash. It is a very pretty scent though!

glossy 7

Tresemme – Salon Finish Extra Hold

Very handy! I was only thinking yesterday that although I rarely use hairspray I am completely out and need a bottle. I like Tresemme, I like strong hold, I don’t like the smell but I haven’t found a yummy scented hairspray as yet. Thanks GLOSSYBOX.

Now that I have written about all of these and spent time with the pictures, I am actually more excited about the contents than at the start. I’m interested to see if any of these make a monthly favourite in the future.
