My Week In Instagram 13

Hello Everyone,

It may have been payday this week, and after a stressful few days I felt it necessary to go shopping of course! So do excuse me if my pictures seem rather thrifty this week. ūüôā

June Favourites – The month draws to a close and I have popped up my monthly favourites post here. Go take a look if you fancy peeking at the products that I’ve been reaching for.

Polish Me – I bought this little acrylic nail polish stand on Ebay this week. It cost a lovely ¬£8 and arrived very quickly. I’m considering a beauty storage post. Let me know what you think.

New Look – I decided to spend some time revamping the blog this week. A new header and set of media buttons have refreshed nicely for the Summer. Please do let me know what you think!

Best Buy – My best buy of the week has to be the new Origins Ginzing moisturizer. It’s so refreshing! If you want to know more, head on over to my review post.

Sunbathing – The sun stayed out just about long enough for the UK to take a sunbath this weekend. Here is Nessie enjoying the garden. Cute!

Bronzed – My monthly faves featured this pic of me with a simple eye, sun kissed skin and a bright lip. I think I’ll be using this look throughout the Summer.

Snap! – My lovely Dad gave me his camera to use for a while. I am really excited as I’ve been wanting a new camera for a while now and this one is perfect for taking better shots for the blog. Happy Times. Say cheese!!

HAUL РAs payday was kind to me, I decided a little shopping was in order. I had a great day out with a friend, topping up my wardrobe. I have decided not to show you any of the things I got for myself as I am going to do a HAUL post soon, but these are some amazingly cute bits that I bought for my friends baby from Primark.

Rest Up! –¬† This week was a toughie, so the PJ’s went on, the feet went up…and relax!

Now I’m ready for the week ahead. Remember to follow me on bloglovin, twitter and Instagram via my new buttons at the top of the sidebar.

New In – Origins GinZing Moisturizer

ORIGINS GinZing Energy-boosting moisturizer 50ml £23

Hello Everyone,

I am so excited to share this product with you today. Origins are well renowned for their luxurious and refreshing skin care. The original GinZing eye cream is a favourite amongst many beauty bloggers which meant it was about time coming for this newbie. I had been considering an Origins face cream for a while now, and as soon as I saw this on the shelf my mind was made up.

I have to say it’s a huge winner for me. The oil-free, ginseng and coffee bean formula is very lightweight and soaks into the skin instantly. It smells fruity fresh and as soon as applied leaves my skin feeling cool and awake. Perfect for the Summer!

If you fancy it, pop along to your nearest Boots (or drugstore) and buy it. I have to say I’m very tempted to go out and get the matching eye cream myself now. If you have it, please do comment below letting me know how you got on with it.

June Beauty Favourites

Hello Everyone,

I’ve had so much fun with makeup this month! There have been lots of opportunities to get dressed up as well as¬†a few sunny days which always makes me feel more excited about popping on the brighter lips.

Looking at the picture now, the products look very black, but they have actually created a lovely bronzing, Summer look with a bright lip. Whenever I want to wear a vibrant lipstick, I always think a simple eye does the trick. This means neat, strong brows, butterfly lashes and a good contour colour on the cheeks. This is the look I have gone for most of this month. Here goes:

The Balm Concealer – I have really fallen for The Balm products recently. I have this concealer in two tones as the first one I got is a little dark for¬†sun denied¬†skin.¬†Thankfully, the amazingly kind Balm¬†customer services lady sent me a lighter one which is much better for now. The formula is very similar to the MAC sculpt concealer which gives high coverage, but doesn’t cake quite as much.

HD Brows РI got this a long while back in a GLOSSYBOX and loved it for some time. I then veered toward eyebrow pencils and left this little lot at the back of my makeup draw. This month I revived it as it gives a much stronger brow look than my pencil which is needed for a natural eye shadow look.

AVON Everlasting Mascara РI have definitely become a plastic wand convert this year and after starring my Dior mascara  last month I was surprised with my switch over to this new one. This cheap and cheerful product is great for separating my lashes and adding length. It is a good dupe for the Clinique mascara that seems popular around the blogs at the moment and in fact I much prefer this one.

AVON Blush in Russet – I have been using this blush for a long time. I think it was one of the first that I bought and I still love it. It is fantastic for sunny days when you don’t want to add colour to your cheeks but want to pack a little more punch than a bronzer.

REVLON Colorburst Lipstick in Coral РThis lipstick is amazing! I absolutely love the formula for this range as it glides on, moisturises and is mega pigmented. This colour is so bold and bright. Pink coral lovers may want to think twice, this is about as orange as a coral gets, but I adore it!

There you have it, my favourite products for June. I have so many makeup products to show you guys this month and even have a naughty clothes haul to post too. The Summer holidays are approaching for me so lots more posts will be coming your way soon,

Enjoy July all and  happy blogging, xxx

Chocolate Cakes 2 ways!

Hello Everyone,

I do love a bit of cake making. I love baking up different flavours and finding the best recipes I can but once I have found an amazing recipe I can’t just leave it at that. One of my favourite parts of cupcake making is the prettying up. I love finding new ways to make cakes look extra scrummy and fun. This week I decided to make some cupcakes using my favourite chocolate buttermilk cupcake recipe. I had two different clientele in mind; my dad, for Father’s Day and the celebration of a little baby girl. I decided to make up one batch of mixture and icing¬†but to use it two ways: Retro Party cakes and Sophisticakes.

party choc

Retro Party Cakes

These little party cakes were very fun to make. They are baked in little polka dot cases and filled with toffee sauce. I then iced a swirl of toffee frosting around the edge, a flower of chocolate fudge in the middle and then topped them with a retro jazzie, mini mallows and confetti sprinkles. Fun and Yum!

Mini Sophisticakes

I love these more elegant mini cakes. I used my fab new mini sandwich tin, poring the mixture into each hole, baking and then popping them out when baked. I then sliced them in half and iced a pattern with the two frostings, popped the top on and added a swirl of chocolate and a choccy coffee bean. Delicious!

Chocolate cakes two ways: done! Lovely.

My Week In Instagram 11

Hello Everyone,

Another crazy busy week, but I do like it that way! As usual my week in pics seems to consist of food, flowers, makeup and my dog hehe.

Hello Loving Nessie’s shorter coat now that I’m used to it. She is so amusing!

Loving These I am loving these Lanolip products at the moment. The hand cream smell of rosey talc and the 101 ointment works a dream on dry lips.

Wild Spotted these beautiful wild flowers on the bank of the river. Think I need some in my garden!

GLOSSYBOX June 2013 This month’s box is lovely! Check out my last post for a closer look.

Sushi I love sushi! This week my boyfriend treated me to dinner at YO! We stacked up a good pile of dishes. This salmon teryaki was delicious!

A rare sight indeed How cute! Tink holding my friends baby. Not something we get to see often but it suits him don’t you think?

Party Cakes This weekend I made chocolate cakes two ways. These party ones are topped with sprinkles, jazzies and mini mallows.

First Strawberry I’ve been growing berries in my new little garden. This first ripened one tasted yummy!

Sophisticakes Part two of my cake making. Using my new mini sandwich cake tin I had fun with these beauties full of chocolate and toffee frosting.

I have been really pleased with the response to my weekly instagram posts. Oddly to me they are my most viewed and liked which is lovely. At first I wasn’t sure if they would fit in with my beauty posts but it seems quite the opposite. I hope you enjoyed this week’s .

Hello Everyone,

First off I wanted to share with you my favourite product from last month’s box.

may4This tiny little tub has been emptied from everyday use and I definitely intend on buy the full size product. I enjoyed this product so much that it even made its way¬†onto my May Favourites, something I don’t think a beauty box product has done before. I have experimented with this mixing media to create cream blushes, and shadows but the best way to use it is to mix it up into foundation for a smooth, flawless look. When I was younger, before I bought decent foundations, I always used to add a little moisturiser into them to rid of any caking. This product gives similar results and is perfect for using up any thicker or¬†more cakey¬†foundations you may have lying around, instantly turning them into the perfect formula.

glossybox june 13

Moving onto more recent excitement; my June box is here and I like it. Bright and Summery, the products in the box look like winners to me and I have already had a go at most of them. Here we go:

june2NUXE РHuile Prodigieuse OR 100ml £34

Pictures cannot¬†show how stunning this product is. I have never seen anything so gold! This is a multi-purpose product that can be used¬†on the face, body and hair.¬†As a dry oil it isn’t sticky¬†at all and soaks into the skin quickly, leaving behind a very subtle¬†shimmery glow. After reading my fave blogger Essie Button‘s¬†review on this product just days before my box arrived, I am very excited to try it on my hair. Go check out her post for a more detailed look into the product. I think this is a big winner!

figs & rouge

Figs & Rouge- Cherry Blossom £5

The packaging does appear to replicate my favourite balm brand ‘L’Occitaine’ but it’s funky and bright and the lip balm inside is different to any products I have in my lip collection. I don’t very often go for sparkly lips but this formula is actually quite cute. The shimmer particles are tiny and the pink is just sheer enough to give a hint of colour without being too much. I like it and think it will look great on sunny days with simple eye makeup. The only drawback for me is that it has no scent and does taste a little ‘plasticky’.

helen E eyeshadow

Helen E Cosmetics РShimmer Eye Powder £5

If you like a sparkly pigment then this is for you! Very similar to Barry M & Mac’s it packs on beautiful glittery colour and lasts a long time. I’m not really a pink eye shadow girl but this is fun and I’m sure I will get use out of it as its so pretty. I also love the little tub it comes in, although I haven’t mastered the awkward lid yet.

mememe nail polish

MEMEME Cosmetics – Long Lasting Nail Gloss

I don’t own any products from this brand but on first inspection I loved the colour. I was pleased to read that it had a maxi-brush for application. This is normally something I prefer as I find it easier to apply neatly with just three strokes of the brush. Sadly, the end of this brush wasn’t cut straight so application was very difficult. I would hope this was an error on my brush alone as it really did spoil the product for me, especially when the formula was shiny and long-lasting.

monu moistureMONU Professional Skincare РHydrating Moisturiser spf15 50ml £29.99

I have had a few of the MONU¬†products in past boxes and to be honest have never really taken to them. I always find the packaging a little tatty cheap, which as I haven’t ever seen a full size product could just be the quality used for testers. I am always on the lookout for a good face cream though so will be sure to give this a go and see if it lives up to its toning and perfecting promises.

Overall I’m pretty pleased with the bunch this month. I can’t wait to use some of the products and will be sure to let you know if any make my must-have list.

May Beauty Favourites

may faves1

Hello Everyone,

Exploring new products is one of my favourite things to do, and I have been enjoying lots of newbies this month. Lips and cheeks have been a focus for me. Sticking to neutral eye shadows and concentrating on lengthening the lashes and contouring the face has given me the opportunity to play with cheek colours and luscious lippies. That being said, no lipsticks have made it into my faves this month, mainly because I have been trying to use lots of different colours, so no single lipstick has taken center stage. Let’s see what has made the cut:

may faves

Beautiful Movements Cosmetics – Prime & Create Mixing Medium Apologies for the little transparent tub. This products is a tester from my latest GLOSSBOX and I knew when I first saw the title of the product that I was going to have fun with it. The idea behind this gel is to experiment with your other products to create new mixes. Examples given are to mix it up with powder blushes to create cream tints, to use with eye shadows to make your own eyeliners or to mix with foundations to form an airbrush effect finish. The latter is the mix up that did it for me this month. Adding a pea sized amount of this onto my hand, then mixing it with my foundation before applying with a brush has improved the application and finish of even my most favourite foundations. It works as a beautiful primer alone, but paired up with a foundation, you’ve got yourself a wow formula. This will definitely be making its way into my shopping basket as soon as this little tub is empty.

Rimmel – Wake Me Up Concealer I bought this product a while back but wasn’t convinced that it rivalled most recent favourite by Bourjois. This month however, as the formula is quite pale, I have been applying it under my eyes, onto the lids and around my nose, before applying foundation. It works really well at lightening up dark or red areas and some days (ones with a higher morning coffee intake) I haven’t even needed to add a product on top too.

Dior – New Look Mascara I have had this mascara for a while and it is one that I return to time and time again after trying new trending products. Don’t be fooled by the tiny plastic wand; It does a fantastic job of separating and lengthening my lashes. This was my first plastic wand mascara and I bought it on recommendation of a friend, unsure of how I felt about changing wand type. I was immediately converted, and although I have since tried other similar wands like Avon and Clinique’s, I always reach for this one for day time looks and to add extra oomph to fake lashes. Sadly it is a product that I rarely see on anyone blog or vlog about, so I’m giving it a big shout out today! I think a mascara picture comparison post is due very soon.

Stila – Convertible Color in Poppy & Petunia Oh my, I’m in love. I haven’t left these beauties alone since they arrived on my door step. Let’s first take a moment to admire the adorable embossed little cases they come in and then to oooo and aarrr at the ever so pretty product inside. These are my first but definitely not my last cream blushes as they apply so easily and look so natural and glowy. I don’t own any other red blushes but as I said in my Rainbow post, I’m not sure why not, as surely red is the natural colour of a pretty flushed cheek. The coral/pink one is very pretty and works well with my Summer lipsticks. It is taking me a lot not to hop right over to the store and buy the rest of the shades.

Lanolips – 101 Ointment There was me thinking my Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream was the Queen of lip fixing. After buying and loving the Lanolips hand cream I decided to add their lip balm to my collection too. The formula is simple but does wonders for dry lips. I can’t recommend it highly enough for those with dry, cracked lips or just to keep in your handbag to apply over lipstick for a delicious shine. It has taken my number one lip treatment spot!

So there you have it, my fantastic faves for May. Now here I am, already thinking about my June wish list…oops.
