Sunset Sensation – My Fave Nail Polishes

sunset polishes1

Hello Everyone,

I really wanted to show you all some of my favourite polishes today but the quite frankly absurd amount of polishes I own means I have far too many favourites. I decided to go along a colour theme and to showcase my favourite colours and brands from within that collection. This also gives me the opportunity to look at other themes for more posts later on. Due to surprisingly hot weather we have had here in the UK I have gone for something Summery and fun: Sunset Sensation.

DSCF2320

With an array of yellows, oranges, corals and pinks, even choosing for this collection was difficult, but in the end I cam up with my five favourites, that not only display my favourite colours, but five different brands that I love too. Let’s take a closer look.

DSCF2299Revlon Colortstay – 090 Sorbet

This is my number on orange nail polish. It doesn’t look garish or cheap which is always a worry for me when buying yellow/orange products. It really is the colour of a very refreshing orange sorbet and looks very delicate and light on the nails. I love this formula as it glides on with the wider brush in three strokes, lasts a long time, especially with its matching topcoat, and you can even get away with one coat if you are in a rush.

DSCF2303Rimmel Pro Finish – 440 Orange Bliss

This is the perfect peachy orange. The formula is one of my favourites and dries very quickly. I am a fan of a wide brush so for me this applies beautifully. I have used this for ombre nails in the past which looks really nice.

DSCF2308Ciate – The Glossip

This is a newbie on my faves brand list. It recently arrived in my July Glossybox and I have work it every day since. The formula is amazing as it applies very evenly, dries incredibly quickly and is so pigmented that you really can do with just one coat. The polish does chip easily but I always where a topcoat which has kept this beauty on for a week. Love it!

DSCF2312Maybelline Forever Strong Pro- Rose Salsa

This is the brightest of the bunch and packs a punch of neon coral. I love wearing it with denim and bright accessories. I discovered this formula when I needed a polish in Paris. I have since bought it in many colours, including this favourite of mine. The polish is very long-lasting, even without a topcoat and applies very evenly. Fabulous!

DSCF2317Essie – Cute As A Button

I realise that Essie don’t use the best formula for their polishes and that often a few coats is needed to get an even pop of colour. However, the colour range is so extensive that a slightly longer application time is worth it for me. I love this pretty coral colour as it manages vibrancy and elegance at the same time. I love some of the softer corals in the range to but this is definitely my most worn and loved. Beautiful!

So there you have it, my sunset sensation. I actually think they look really good together and am tempted to paint each nail in each polish as I have done with my tester fan.

June Beauty Favourites

june10

Hello Everyone,

I’ve had so much fun with makeup this month! There have been lots of opportunities to get dressed up as well as a few sunny days which always makes me feel more excited about popping on the brighter lips.

Looking at the picture now, the products look very black, but they have actually created a lovely bronzing, Summer look with a bright lip. Whenever I want to wear a vibrant lipstick, I always think a simple eye does the trick. This means neat, strong brows, butterfly lashes and a good contour colour on the cheeks. This is the look I have gone for most of this month. Here goes:

june8

The Balm Concealer – I have really fallen for The Balm products recently. I have this concealer in two tones as the first one I got is a little dark for sun denied skin. Thankfully, the amazingly kind Balm customer services lady sent me a lighter one which is much better for now. The formula is very similar to the MAC sculpt concealer which gives high coverage, but doesn’t cake quite as much.

HD Brows – I got this a long while back in a GLOSSYBOX and loved it for some time. I then veered toward eyebrow pencils and left this little lot at the back of my makeup draw. This month I revived it as it gives a much stronger brow look than my pencil which is needed for a natural eye shadow look.

AVON Everlasting Mascara – I have definitely become a plastic wand convert this year and after starring my Dior mascara  last month I was surprised with my switch over to this new one. This cheap and cheerful product is great for separating my lashes and adding length. It is a good dupe for the Clinique mascara that seems popular around the blogs at the moment and in fact I much prefer this one.

AVON Blush in Russet – I have been using this blush for a long time. I think it was one of the first that I bought and I still love it. It is fantastic for sunny days when you don’t want to add colour to your cheeks but want to pack a little more punch than a bronzer.

REVLON Colorburst Lipstick in Coral – This lipstick is amazing! I absolutely love the formula for this range as it glides on, moisturises and is mega pigmented. This colour is so bold and bright. Pink coral lovers may want to think twice, this is about as orange as a coral gets, but I adore it!

There you have it, my favourite products for June. I have so many makeup products to show you guys this month and even have a naughty clothes haul to post too. The Summer holidays are approaching for me so lots more posts will be coming your way soon,

Enjoy July all and  happy blogging, xxx

May Beauty Favourites

may faves1

Hello Everyone,

Exploring new products is one of my favourite things to do, and I have been enjoying lots of newbies this month. Lips and cheeks have been a focus for me. Sticking to neutral eye shadows and concentrating on lengthening the lashes and contouring the face has given me the opportunity to play with cheek colours and luscious lippies. That being said, no lipsticks have made it into my faves this month, mainly because I have been trying to use lots of different colours, so no single lipstick has taken center stage. Let’s see what has made the cut:

may faves

Beautiful Movements Cosmetics – Prime & Create Mixing Medium Apologies for the little transparent tub. This products is a tester from my latest GLOSSBOX and I knew when I first saw the title of the product that I was going to have fun with it. The idea behind this gel is to experiment with your other products to create new mixes. Examples given are to mix it up with powder blushes to create cream tints, to use with eye shadows to make your own eyeliners or to mix with foundations to form an airbrush effect finish. The latter is the mix up that did it for me this month. Adding a pea sized amount of this onto my hand, then mixing it with my foundation before applying with a brush has improved the application and finish of even my most favourite foundations. It works as a beautiful primer alone, but paired up with a foundation, you’ve got yourself a wow formula. This will definitely be making its way into my shopping basket as soon as this little tub is empty.

Rimmel – Wake Me Up Concealer I bought this product a while back but wasn’t convinced that it rivalled most recent favourite by Bourjois. This month however, as the formula is quite pale, I have been applying it under my eyes, onto the lids and around my nose, before applying foundation. It works really well at lightening up dark or red areas and some days (ones with a higher morning coffee intake) I haven’t even needed to add a product on top too.

Dior – New Look Mascara I have had this mascara for a while and it is one that I return to time and time again after trying new trending products. Don’t be fooled by the tiny plastic wand; It does a fantastic job of separating and lengthening my lashes. This was my first plastic wand mascara and I bought it on recommendation of a friend, unsure of how I felt about changing wand type. I was immediately converted, and although I have since tried other similar wands like Avon and Clinique’s, I always reach for this one for day time looks and to add extra oomph to fake lashes. Sadly it is a product that I rarely see on anyone blog or vlog about, so I’m giving it a big shout out today! I think a mascara picture comparison post is due very soon.

Stila – Convertible Color in Poppy & Petunia Oh my, I’m in love. I haven’t left these beauties alone since they arrived on my door step. Let’s first take a moment to admire the adorable embossed little cases they come in and then to oooo and aarrr at the ever so pretty product inside. These are my first but definitely not my last cream blushes as they apply so easily and look so natural and glowy. I don’t own any other red blushes but as I said in my Rainbow post, I’m not sure why not, as surely red is the natural colour of a pretty flushed cheek. The coral/pink one is very pretty and works well with my Summer lipsticks. It is taking me a lot not to hop right over to the store and buy the rest of the shades.

Lanolips – 101 Ointment There was me thinking my Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream was the Queen of lip fixing. After buying and loving the Lanolips hand cream I decided to add their lip balm to my collection too. The formula is simple but does wonders for dry lips. I can’t recommend it highly enough for those with dry, cracked lips or just to keep in your handbag to apply over lipstick for a delicious shine. It has taken my number one lip treatment spot!

So there you have it, my fantastic faves for May. Now here I am, already thinking about my June wish list…oops.

Colours of the Rainbow – Beauty Favourites

20130529-204054.jpg

Hello Everyone,

The idea for this post came from a popular tag that I most recently watched on my fave vloggers channel (EssieButton). Although this isn’t a vlog, and I haven’t been tagged by anyone, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to cover a post in colour.

The idea for this tag is to choose a favourite product for each colour of the rainbow. As easy as this sounds, it is actually quite a tricky task as finding products for every colour isn’t as easy it seems. I either had far too many to choose from, or had none at all so had to cheat slightly. I also tried to choose only one product from each category so that I didn’t end up with lots of lipstick and nail polishes. This challenge was however extremely fun to put together so I urge anyone and everyone to have a go. Let’s begin:

red

Stila  Convertible Color in Poppy

This is a new product in my collection and I have used it nearly everyday since it was delivered. I am now a cream blush convert as it is so easy to blend and gives such a natural glow to the cheeks. I don’t have any other red blushes and I don’t know why as of course a red flush to the cheek is the most natural look. I had a pile of red lipsticks to start off with but decided this product was my favourite.

orange Real Techniques – Buffing & Contour Brushes

I thought I’d mix it up a little and choose some beauty tools for this one. I was tempted to choose my favourite orange/coral sleek blush but change my mind when I spotted these lying by my mirror. Since makeup became some what a hobby for me a few years back, these have been by far my best discovery. I couldn’t apply my foundation without my trusty buffer, and this little contour brush is perfect for apply cream blush and highlighter.

yellowBurt’s Bees

When I think of beauty and yellow I think of this lovely collection. I realise this is the first of my little cheats, as not all of their products are actually yellow but yellow isn’t a colour that you would find across my makeup stash. If you opened up my skin care draw however, you would find a great deal of this yellow packaging. I love the collection, from shampoo to foot scrub, and a huge favourite of mine are the lip balm sticks in pomegranate and honey.

greenLiz Earle Cleanse & Polish, Moisturiser and Skin Tonic

Another cheat, but a well deserved winner for green. I think the only green makeup product I own is a rarely used eyeliner and although I have a vast array of mint nail polishes, I had to save that spot for later. Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish has been part of my daily skin care routine for years now. Even though I have tried many other creams, lotions and oils, I always come back to this beauty as it never fails to clean and soften my skin. The whole collection is fab but these three are my faves.

blueRimmel Lycra Pro Polish in Aqua Cool

No doubt about it, this is not only my favourite blue beauty product but is also my favourite nail polish of this season. Blue can be a hard colour to pull off but this soft seaside cutie looks lovely. The formula is fantastic; it applies easily and lasts a long time without chipping.

purpleBenefit Hoola Bronzer

Okay, so I don’t do purple. As an eye shadow it really doesn’t work for me. I can get away with mink and mauve but  that’s about it. This bronzer was one of the first makeup items I brought many years back and as you can see it is still going strong. I alternate between a few bronzer, this one being my Summer favourite, and I love the tone and texture of it.

pinkRevlon – Lip Butter in Lollipop

Wow this was a toughy. I literally had a heap of pink products to choose from. Blushes, eye shadows, lipsticks, glosses, polishes…help! In the end I decided that as a lipstick hadn’t been chosen yet that I must have been saving it for last. I lined all of my pink lipsticks up. I had ones for day, night, bright, pale, shimmery, matt, glossy etc. Eventually I decided that my most fabulous and most worn had to be this one. I love Revlon, adore the lip butters and this colour is amazing. A dupe for many expensive lipsticks like MAC’s Girl About Town, this is a lipstick that I think every girl should own. These are by far the easiest lipstick to wear if you are not one for bright and bold as they are so easy to apply, are buildable and don’t need a liner.

So there you have it, my rainbow of beauty, I’m really pleased to see the final selections and would love to see what you would choose for yours. If you decide to have a go please do comment in the box below with a link to yours.

Thanks for reading, xxx

April Beauty Favourites

april favoutites

Hello Everyone,

It has been a very busy month for me so makeup has had to be quick and easy. The sun has also decided to show its face so the freckles are appearing and the skin needs to look sun-kissed. It was easy for me to choose my favourites this month as I have worn them an awful lot. Here they are:

april faves all

Maybelline – BB Cream I used this all of last Summer without foundation. I had a good tan then so foundation wasn’t needed. I have worn it alone a few times this month but have mostly used it a s base under a thin sweep of foundation. This is the only BB cream I have really liked the formula for. I use Medium and love that is has spf 30 too.

bare minerals – Mineral Veil I have had this product for a long time. It is a powder that I go back to often, and this month I have used it most days. As the weather has been heating up, I didn’t want last months dewy look to go to the extreme. No one wants to go from glowing to sweating. This powder is by far my favourite. It has no colour or scent and sweeps across the face easily without leaving a particularly powdered look. Make up stays in place!

H & M – Bronzer If you are looking for a low-priced, fantastic bronzer then this is perfect! I picked this up whilst waiting in the queue last Summer and now that the sun is back it is time to bring it back to life. I have lots of bronzers but this warm toned beauty is the best I have for contouring and for giving a natural all over sun-kissed look.

MAC – Honey Lust This is a lustre eyeshadow that I bought a long time ago but rarely used it. It looks a little bashed around as I once tried to move it into the palette with no success. This month I reached deep into my shadows and found this again. It really is a pretty peach gold that is great for the Summer. I have been using it with a lighter gold in the corner, a good bronzer and some bright lips.

YSL -Volupte Sheer Candy 6 Oh my this is the most beautiful lipstick. It feels like a balm and gives a shiny sheer look  but is incredibly pigmented at the same time. This is perfect for days when you don’t want to fuss with application but you want your lips to look fab. I would love some more. Sadly the price tag is a little too high.

Revlon – Colorstay Topcoat This is by far the best high street top coat I have found. It dries very quickly and my nails can go at least a week without chipping.

Please do share you your monthly favourites with me by commenting with your link below.

Have a lovely May everyone, xxx

Non-Beauty Favourites

banner

Hello Everyone,

I was making a non-beauty wish list last night and decided that it would be nice to show you some of the favourite things that I already have. They are bits and pieces I have been really enjoying lately.

We haven’t been living in our new house for long so not many of the rooms are decorated and furnished how I would eventually like them to be. That said, there are lots of items that I do love and have or will be basing the rest of my decor around.

non beauty faves1

Evoke Mio by Orla Kiely/PURE

Up first is this beautiful radio by PURE, using one of Orla Kiely’s designs, Abacus Flower. Orla Kiely, for those of you who are yet to discover her, started out as a hat designer, and her vintage style 60’s prints can now be found on clothing, bags, kitchen ware and even cars. I recently posted some images of her products on my home blog and also have a basil & mint candle from her collection on my wish list.

This time, she has paired up with PURE to design this gorgeous Portable DAB Digital and FM Radio. I love the slate grey/blue design, with a splash of colour in the flower centers, and I like seeing a wooden finish on a something electronic as it  makes it feel less techno in my shabby chic style house.

I have to admit I have never been much of radio listener but with my more recent introduction to DAB digital radio, I have found myself enjoying a secret little boogie to Magic, tidying with Planet rock and chilling out with Smooth (should I be telling you this?).

There are also two more designs which are also very pretty.  Ooo, now I’m in the mood for some music.

non beauty faves3

Vintage style suitcases – Home Sense

I have owned the top two beauties for a while, but moving into out new house, I needed something pretty to store my belts, scarves and hair care items. When I saw these I couldn’t leave them in the shop. I love that they were cheap as chips, are actually just boxes, but have the most beautiful shabby chic pattern on. The leather handle and working fasteners are so cute. I wish I could actually use them as suitcases when I go away.

Saying that, I did recently take a trip to see family and did put some of my clothes in the bottom case. It held really well and as you can see is still in one piece.

Every time I go into Home Sense, I have to draw myself away from the rest fo their pretty boxes or I would end up with stack of them lying around and would in turn end up buying even more stuff to fill them.

non beauty faves2Flowers

It is fair to say that the weather in the UK has been appalling considering it has now been Spring for a good few weeks! With no sun, no blossom on the trees I have resorted to over compensating with flowers all over my house. I can’t resist a fresh bunch of pretty blooms; the brighter the better! You will have noticed that flowers have been appearing all over my blog at the moment. My header now dons the lovely bunch my boyfriend got me this week, and some of my makeup pictures have been decorated with them too. There is something about them that jus makes me smile and fills a room with a fresh Summery feel.

non beauty favesLindt Chocolate Bunny – Large

Oh my! I don’t know if you are an Instagram follower of mine, but you may have seen the ridiculous amount of chocolate my family accumulated this Easter. Amongst the hordes I brought home were these two cuties (I say 2, there were 3). I am and have always been a chocolate fan. Not just like some people, I’m talking major chocoholic. You know when you are at a restaurant and people order a chocolate dessert, then half way through they say “It’s very rich”, “It’s lovely but I can’t possibly finish it”… yeh that doesn;t happen to me. I will eat yours if you don’t want it! So yes, chocolate had to be in my favourites this time.now I just need to eat it all and get on with my life.

A random assortment of faves, yes, but it was fun telling you about them. I would love to hear what you have been loving in your house, and please do comment with links to similar posts you have written,

March Beauty Favourites

faves2

Hello Everyone,

This post has ended up being a little late but I still had to share my favourites with you for last month as they were products that I used most days and aswell as some expected faves, there are a few surprises in their too.

march faves collage

I’m not really a photo of my face fan but wanted to show you how I used the products to create a natural Spring look. I used all of these products for my everyday makeup as they are simple, quick to apply and brighten up my face. I will be reviewing some of these products in more depth soon and others are already included in posts which I will link below.

La Roche-Posay – Toleraine A light moisturiser that I have been loving as a base under foundation. See Review Here.

Clarins – Instant Light Complexion Perfector in Rose Shimmer This is a beautiful product that gives a very subtle highlight to the cheeks. It can also be used under foundation to give the skina dewy glow. Full review coming soon.

Revlon – Colorbust Lipgloss in Papaya Not usually a gloss fan, I adore this peachy coral gloss. For days when you don’t want a lipstick look but still want lovely lips. HAUL and more pics here.

OPI – Nail Envy Wowee this stuff is amazing! strengthens and lengthens like a trooper. I will be reviewing this very soon. Stay posted!

Sleek – Trio Blush in Lace I love this trio. Last month I favoured this too,  but mainly the center blush. This month I have been using the other two aswell. As crazy bright as it looks, it actually gives a beautiful tint to the cheeks. I use a large blush brush to sweep it on the apples and just under the cheek bones, Recently I have been using Chantilly, the more orange/coral colour to match the Revlon lip gloss.

17 Va Va Voom I bought this a while back and wasnt quite sure whether I liked it or not (thoughts here). One day when I was wearing a simple eye shadow look I thought I would give it a try as I remembered it layered up to give a dramatic look. This time I applied one coat and was pleased with the length it gave my lashes. If applied carelessly it can look a little clumpy but I found myself reaching for this most days this month and it has now moved into my ‘frequently used mascara draw’.

So that’s it for this month. I’m sure as always I have missed some favourites that I will later moan at myself for forgetting but these were the products I had written down on my makeup draw postet.

I love reading monthly favourite posts so please do comment below with your links.

Have a happy April, xxx

Hello Everyone,

After coveting the new Barry M Gelly Polishes and the bright Spring colours in their collection, I decided to look through my stash of polishes to see what I already have. Turns out  I may already have all the Spring colours I need, what a shame! 🙂

February Favourites!

20130303-162011.jpg

Hello Everyone,

I can’t believe it is the end of february already. I am very excited about Spring but wanted to share with you my favourites for the past month. I found ot very easy to choose this months faves as I have pretty much worn them throughout the month, way more than any other products.

20130303-162252.jpg
Bourjois, Healthy Mix Serum Foundation
I have talked about this foundation before and have been wearing it ever since. I use the colour 52, which is perfect for my light olive toned skin at the moment. Im no whizz when it come to the science of a foundation but if there isn’t something scientifically clever about this then there is some fairytale magic going on!
I love the cool thin (not runny) textire of this. It feels similar to BB creams I have but gives more coverage than they do without the slightest hint of cakeyness (I’m sure that is not a word). The scent is clean and my skin is left slightly dewy which means I have a choice of opting for a matte look by adding powder or I can leave it as it is, flawless and glowing. I’m putting it out there that maybe, just maybe this is my favorite foundation ever?!

20130303-163049.jpg
Maybelline, Color Tattoo in Bad to Bronze
I became very excited about this range during the Summer where I searched the internet for almost every colour. I have enjoyed wearing them all on many occasions but have recently found myself using this colour from day to day. The main reason I think this has become a daily staple is that it is so incredibly easy to apply. I tend to use my finger to smooth a small amount across the eyelid and then just use my little finger to blend the edge out. Somehow the product seems to appear like it has been carefully mixed and blendes with a variety of shadows to create a smokey eye effect. All lies I tell you; Very clever!

20130303-163724.jpg
Sleek, Rose Gold Blush
I recently posted a plea for the Mac Stereo Rose blush. After a sad search I realised I had a fabtastic dupe already sat, forgotten in my makeup draw. Now reunited with the love for this blusher I think I have worn it almost too often this month but love it so much I can tell the love affair isn’t over quite yet! All of my other blushes are matte or only slightly shimmery and as I am yet to have found the perfect highlighter for me, thos blush is doing a great job at being both. I do have to be careful not to overload the cheeks but with a light dusting the peachy rose colour is great for a glowing, happy look.

20130303-164333.jpg
Real Techniques, Blush Brush
I couldn’t enter the Sleek blush without a big shout out to my new brush. Being huge fan of the whole collection I had wanted this for a while. As expected I adore it! The hairs are so fine, soft and fluffy that none of my other blusher brushes even compare.

20130303-164722.jpg
Revlon, Mad About Mauve Lipstick
I am really going through a lipstick phase at the moment. I am so excited for Spring as I can’t wait to bring out the bright and bold colours again after enjoying my darker lippies this Winter.
This lipstick in particular has been my favorite this month, maybe because it is a great transitional colour but mainly because I think it is the loveliest shade of mauve. Aswell as going with most items of clothing, it glides on, stays on and looks beautiful!

20130303-171647.jpg
Maybelline, cream gloss in stellar berry
I really have been babbling on today but sometimes you just have a lot to say. When a lippy isnt enough (although I rarely wear gloss) this pairs so perfectly with the above lipstick I had to show you the pairing. Thinking about it I’m sure I have raved about this combo before!

20130303-165535.jpg
Birdy Shirt – Sainsburys £16
Tan Boots – Primark £20
Tan Backpack – Primark £12
To end off just a few of my fashion faves for the month. I love this shirt. It is the only one I have where I can do the buttons up right to the collar and it look good. I have paired it up with my primark teal and burgandy jeans so much this Winter.
The boots are very comfy and seem to work with every outfit I have worn this month.
I couldn’t resist this geeky back pack and am so glad as it has been so much fun to use. Great for shopping when you needs hands free for all that rail browsing!

What was your favourite item this month? Please let me know of you have a favourites post as I would love to check it out. 🙂
