Day 7 – As Sweet As Shopping

20130813-232624.jpg
Hello Everyone,

As promised, the boyfriend agreed to following me around some beauty shops today! The shops here are fantastic, all types of stores selling a huge variety of things, all lined up in the lovely old buildings.

20130813-232026.jpg
Amongst them, some familiar beauty stores caught my eye. I had a good nose, and was extremely tempted to buy lots of bits but unfortunately, with the current exchange, makeup is by no means cheaper here.

20130813-232041.jpg
The local chemists however, stock an amazing array of skincare that in most cases came up as nearly half the price. Some of my favourite brands filled the shelves.

I didn’t go completely without. I bought some must have bioderma bottles at a great price, a makeup brush and a polish. I will review these properly when I return home.

20130813-232053.jpg
Just when I thought there was nothing as sweet as shopping, we made our daily pass by a patisserie window that boasts the most inviting treats. Today, we went in! I can’t even explain how excited I was and how extremely scrumptious these were.

20130813-232115.jpg
Today was our last in La Rochelle. We dined French with, croissant, coffee, mussels and wine. Tomorrow we head North towards home with one stop left; St Marlo.

Day 6 – Lazy Lundi

20130812-235917.jpg
Hello Everyone,

It appears that Sunday isn’t the only day of rest for France. Most shops are closed am and even the harbour had drips and drabs of tourists this morning.

In spirit of this lazy Lundi, we decided to head to the beach. Roof down, suncream on, new beach towels at the ready we set off for some sun, sea and sand!

20130812-235935.jpg
In keeping with the quiet Monday mood, the beach was perfectly scattered with just a few other bathers. I enjoyed a good paddle, collected some shells like a kid and took lots of photos with my lovely camera.

20130812-235954.jpg
After a tiring day, we had a delicious French meal of terrine, duck and creme brulee with a glass of red. Perfect!

Last day in La Rochelle tomorrow so hopefully some shopping shall be done!

Day 4 – Two Wheel Travel

20130810-230731.jpg
Hello Everyone,

Today was lovely. The weather was perfect, the sites were beautiful and the food was fantastic.

20130810-230933.jpg
We spent most of the day on a little island off the west coast called Ile De Re. For those unaware (as I was) of this little treasure, this is a most impressive little place. The small stretch of land is quite unsual in that the whole
island is covered in roads specifically built for bikes. Cyclists wind around the vast grape fields and oyster beds, along a web of paths connecting the seaside hamlets. The flow of two wheel travel was brilliant and it was so much fun to experience this well planned and beautiful spot by hiring ourselves bikes and joining the stream.

20130810-232027.jpg
Why the UK haven’t cottoned on to the French boulangerie success I don’t know. The baking in these places is insane, far too pretty to eat and ever so reasonably priced. We have found our favourite morning coffee stop now, full of sweet treats. The most deliciois lemon meringue tart I’ve ever tasted and giant pink meringues is like heaven to me. I shall dream of pastries.

Day 3 – Under The Sea

20130809-234327.jpg
Hello Everyone,

Today, as the forecast said it would be a bit cloudy, we decided to stay in La Rochelle.

20130809-234744.jpg
I chose a parisien stripe skirt, vest top and tan sandals. I also wore my fave black and silver spinning rings, stacked up to match.

20130809-234846.jpg
We spent the morning at the Aquarium. Everything was so colourful and made me feel like a kid again.

20130809-235004.jpg
We spent the rest of the day mooching around the cobbled streets, stopping for drinks and people watching.

20130809-235117.jpg
Food was good today! Looking at it now it is alot! With all that walking though it was needed. The Tapas (not so French) was absolutely delicious!

We ended the day by walking through the market stalls and enjoyed a littlw dance group before heading back to bed.

My Week In Photos 18

week 18

Hello Everyone,

I’ve had such a lovely week, enjoying my Summer holidays. I had a long list of important things to get done, but of course I spent most of it with good friends and good food. It’s so nice having the time to do the things you want to do and baking has been one of those things for me this week. Let’s take a look!

Friends – I love nothing more than sitting around with good friend having a good drink and a chin wag. Cocktails have played a big part of this for me this week but this bottle of coke summed up my week perfectly.

Eggy Bread – For my first breakfast of the hols it had to be something a little naughty and comforting. Eggy bread tends to be a treat I make when I’m feeling sorry for myself. In this case it was the opposite. I was celebrating the ability to kick back and lounge.

Kisses – These little gems are the yummiest meringue pieces. See my recipe here and more pics.

Party Princess – I baked some personalised princess cakes for a little girl’s birthday this week. When I’m baking cakes for adults I always feel pressure to make them perfect, but with kids ones I get to play and go over the top with sprinkles and colour.

Wilma – Everyone meet Wilma the tortoise! I love this little pic of my friend’s pet so had to pop it in here. She is a naughty little lady (the tortoise, not the friend…well maybe both).

Snacks – It’s lethal being on holiday with all that time on your hands to eat. I found these yummy part healthy snack this week. Popchips and Marmite rice cakes. Yum!

Sleep – I think Ness has enjoyed me being around more than usual but it does seem to tire her out even more than normal. Bless!

Lemon Meringue Cupcakes – I fancied using some of my lemon meringue kisses up, so of course I made some cakes. These lemon syrup soaked caked filled with curd, are topped with crème fraiche frosting, meringue kisses and lemon peel.

Pamper – Of course I have left in some time for pampering. I am loving this new hair mask. It left my hair feeling so soft and it came in at a cheap £5.

I’m actually off on my first little holiday this week so any posts will be from France. I’m hoping to find the time to do some kind of journal style posting. In the mean time, come and catch up with me on twitter and take a look at my pinterest and Instagram pages too.

Hello Everyone,

First I’d like to say a big yay! It’s the Summer holidays now so I get to do exciting things, lots of which are included in a slightly more fun packed week of pics than normal. I am definitely a little more snap happy in the holidays and have so many plans for the next few weeks. Let’s go!

Blue Skies – It’s just so lovely to have had blue skies for a while. Summer is rarely Summer here in the UK so when the sky is blue and the sun is shining my happiness rating is high!

I was cute once – Throw back Thursday brought a photo of me at my Aunts wedding when I was younger, back when I was actually quite cute.

The Amazing Cake – Huge thanks to a lovely parent at school that made this amazing cake for me to say thanks. Using the class photo she hade this fabulous treat. Big Smiles all round.

Summer Supper – When the sun is out I love a light dinner. One of our faves is collecting lots of bits together from the fridge and popping them on a plate, Scrummy!

Sunset Sensation – My last post showcased my favourite sunny nail polishes. Here are the colours on my sample wheel. Check out the post from the sidebar 🙂

Sunny Me – With oranges in mind from my nail polish post, I delved into my Summer wardrobe for some matching attire. I love bright and cheerful outfits.

Grams & Ness – I spent most of the weekend with my family. WE enjoyed a bbq, a bit of fence painting and chatting. Grams even tried to make friends with Ness pupp.

Picking Blackcurrants – My little garden is coming together, and it was picking day for the blackcurrants. I haven’t decided what to do with them yet, so any ideas would be great!

Pinned It! – I thought I would include a favourite Pinterest pin from my week. This one made me chuckle as it is so true!

My Week In Photos 15

week 15

Hello Everyone,

What a lovely week we’ve had with the hot weather in the UK. I’ve spent lots of time eating, drinking and chatting which is the perfect way tot spend the evenings leading up to the end of school term.

It’s Your Prime – I am loving my little random purchase from smashbox this week. The primer set has been perfect in this heat and I shall be wearing it for the rest of the Summer. I particularly like the eye primers (see review here) 🙂

Cherry – Earlier on in the year my week in photos featured a picture of the pretty cherry blossom on my little garden tree. This week the little cherries have ripened and look so cute hanging alone on their branches.

Sun Dress – I just love being able to dress for Summer. I have so many dresses and skirts that are scarcely worn it’s about time they got to enjoy the sun.

Ooops! – When one decides to take a dear friend out to cheer them up, a naughty treat is essential. This was the most scrumptious banana and pecan waffle.

Alpha H – Seriously, it’s getting to the point where I think I should join the Alpha H marketing team I discuss it so much with random people. Today I persuaded the young girl on the Dior counter that all her problems would be solved with the wonder that is ‘liquid gold’.

Drinks – I’ve never been one for drinks, but recently  little fruity cocktails have taken my fancy. What’s more, it means fun times with lovely friends too.

I need shade! – Little Ness is struggling a little in the heat bless her. She keeps flopping onto the ground, tongue hanging out, edging towards the shade.

Girls – However hectic and tiring life gets there is always fun to be had. This weekend was a lovely evening out with my holiday girls. Holiday soon to come!

GLOSSYBOX – I am loving the box delivered to me this weekend. Pop over and have a look at the treats inside here.

Fingers crossed for plenty more sunshine,

Hello Everyone,

This may be a little naughty but I’ve decided to change the title of this weekly post, mainly as I have anew camera and these pictures don’t actually go onto my Instagram. It feels like cheating to name entitle my post as before, when not all of the pics are actually on it. I also think this will give me more opportunity to share some more interesting/high quality photos with you.

Cats & Drinks – This week I had a fantastic evening with my work friends watching Cats at the theatre, We had some naughty food before hand and these fruity drinks looked too pretty not to snap.

Basket Case – My little pup is completely barking, hehe. Here she is cooling herself down in the wash basket.

Me? – This is definitely Nessie’s “who me?” face. Like butter wouldn’t melt.

50’s Hen – Here I am celebrating the hen do of a long life bestie. It was such a fab 50’s evening of housewifery and cake.

Milkshake Cake – A little pic of one of the cakes that I made for the hen do. I love the idea of making the cakes look like diner milkshakes using paper straws and a fake Malteser cherry. Check out the cake post for these here.

Mini Makeup HAUL –  I had a little splurge this week. Nothing crazy but I’m loving the bits that I bought. Take a closer look here.

My Sugar Crush Crush – Already a fan of the Soap & Glory shower cream and body scrub, I had to add this to my collection. It smells amazing! I will be posting a skin care HAUL with this and some other products in the week. 🙂

DIY Vintage Flowers – I stole one of these beauties from the hen do. What an easy way to make something very pretty. I like the touch of the little rosy doyley too. Considering some kind of vintage DIY post soon. What do you think?

Jealous – Technically this isn’t my photo,  but it is one my boyfriend sent me of his weekend fun. I’m very jealous of his opportunity to hang along side Jenson Button and the McLaren team this weekend at the F1,

Let me know what you think of my title change and the photos I’ve accumulated this week. Lots of posts coming soon but in the meantime pop over to my twitter (button in sidebar) and say hello. I love chatting to you guys on there.

My Week In Instagram 13

Hello Everyone,

It may have been payday this week, and after a stressful few days I felt it necessary to go shopping of course! So do excuse me if my pictures seem rather thrifty this week. 🙂

June Favourites – The month draws to a close and I have popped up my monthly favourites post here. Go take a look if you fancy peeking at the products that I’ve been reaching for.

Polish Me – I bought this little acrylic nail polish stand on Ebay this week. It cost a lovely £8 and arrived very quickly. I’m considering a beauty storage post. Let me know what you think.

New Look – I decided to spend some time revamping the blog this week. A new header and set of media buttons have refreshed nicely for the Summer. Please do let me know what you think!

Best Buy – My best buy of the week has to be the new Origins Ginzing moisturizer. It’s so refreshing! If you want to know more, head on over to my review post.

Sunbathing – The sun stayed out just about long enough for the UK to take a sunbath this weekend. Here is Nessie enjoying the garden. Cute!

Bronzed – My monthly faves featured this pic of me with a simple eye, sun kissed skin and a bright lip. I think I’ll be using this look throughout the Summer.

Snap! – My lovely Dad gave me his camera to use for a while. I am really excited as I’ve been wanting a new camera for a while now and this one is perfect for taking better shots for the blog. Happy Times. Say cheese!!

HAUL – As payday was kind to me, I decided a little shopping was in order. I had a great day out with a friend, topping up my wardrobe. I have decided not to show you any of the things I got for myself as I am going to do a HAUL post soon, but these are some amazingly cute bits that I bought for my friends baby from Primark.

Rest Up! –  This week was a toughie, so the PJ’s went on, the feet went up…and relax!

Now I’m ready for the week ahead. Remember to follow me on bloglovin, twitter and Instagram via my new buttons at the top of the sidebar.
