My Week In Photos 17

week17yes

Hello Everyone,

First I’d like to say a big yay! It’s the Summer holidays now so I get to do exciting things, lots of which are included in a slightly more fun packed week of pics than normal. I am definitely a little more snap happy in the holidays and have so many plans for the next few weeks. Let’s go!

Blue Skies – It’s just so lovely to have had blue skies for a while. Summer is rarely Summer here in the UK so when the sky is blue and the sun is shining my happiness rating is high!

I was cute once – Throw back Thursday brought a photo of me at my Aunts wedding when I was younger, back when I was actually quite cute.

The Amazing Cake – Huge thanks to a lovely parent at school that made this amazing cake for me to say thanks. Using the class photo she hade this fabulous treat. Big Smiles all round.

Summer Supper – When the sun is out I love a light dinner. One of our faves is collecting lots of bits together from the fridge and popping them on a plate, Scrummy!

Sunset Sensation – My last post showcased my favourite sunny nail polishes. Here are the colours on my sample wheel. Check out the post from the sidebar 🙂

Sunny Me – With oranges in mind from my nail polish post, I delved into my Summer wardrobe for some matching attire. I love bright and cheerful outfits.

Grams & Ness – I spent most of the weekend with my family. WE enjoyed a bbq, a bit of fence painting and chatting. Grams even tried to make friends with Ness pupp.

Picking Blackcurrants – My little garden is coming together, and it was picking day for the blackcurrants. I haven’t decided what to do with them yet, so any ideas would be great!

Pinned It! – I thought I would include a favourite Pinterest pin from my week. This one made me chuckle as it is so true!

Get The Look – Leighton Meester

Leighton Meester1Click Here for more details on the products used in this look.

Hello Everyone,

I really enjoyed making my last ‘Get The Look’ post so decided to it a regular. I love using Polyvore to choose a stunning celeb and then picking their look apart, deciding which makeup products would best create it.

These are all products that I enjoy using, some high-end and some drugstore, but they all work really well together. I love that Leighton seems to reflect her Gossip Girl character off screen. Just like Blair, Leighton has two main looks; the natural beauty and the smoky eyed sex bomb. I chose this brown smoky eye look with a peachy lip as I think it would be a really fun one to do.

Let me know what you think of the look and the products I have chosen either in the comment box below or via my twitter page. I love a good tweet! 🙂

Sunset Sensation – My Fave Nail Polishes

sunset polishes1

Hello Everyone,

I really wanted to show you all some of my favourite polishes today but the quite frankly absurd amount of polishes I own means I have far too many favourites. I decided to go along a colour theme and to showcase my favourite colours and brands from within that collection. This also gives me the opportunity to look at other themes for more posts later on. Due to surprisingly hot weather we have had here in the UK I have gone for something Summery and fun: Sunset Sensation.

DSCF2320

With an array of yellows, oranges, corals and pinks, even choosing for this collection was difficult, but in the end I cam up with my five favourites, that not only display my favourite colours, but five different brands that I love too. Let’s take a closer look.

DSCF2299Revlon Colortstay – 090 Sorbet

This is my number on orange nail polish. It doesn’t look garish or cheap which is always a worry for me when buying yellow/orange products. It really is the colour of a very refreshing orange sorbet and looks very delicate and light on the nails. I love this formula as it glides on with the wider brush in three strokes, lasts a long time, especially with its matching topcoat, and you can even get away with one coat if you are in a rush.

DSCF2303Rimmel Pro Finish – 440 Orange Bliss

This is the perfect peachy orange. The formula is one of my favourites and dries very quickly. I am a fan of a wide brush so for me this applies beautifully. I have used this for ombre nails in the past which looks really nice.

DSCF2308Ciate – The Glossip

This is a newbie on my faves brand list. It recently arrived in my July Glossybox and I have work it every day since. The formula is amazing as it applies very evenly, dries incredibly quickly and is so pigmented that you really can do with just one coat. The polish does chip easily but I always where a topcoat which has kept this beauty on for a week. Love it!

DSCF2312Maybelline Forever Strong Pro- Rose Salsa

This is the brightest of the bunch and packs a punch of neon coral. I love wearing it with denim and bright accessories. I discovered this formula when I needed a polish in Paris. I have since bought it in many colours, including this favourite of mine. The polish is very long-lasting, even without a topcoat and applies very evenly. Fabulous!

DSCF2317Essie – Cute As A Button

I realise that Essie don’t use the best formula for their polishes and that often a few coats is needed to get an even pop of colour. However, the colour range is so extensive that a slightly longer application time is worth it for me. I love this pretty coral colour as it manages vibrancy and elegance at the same time. I love some of the softer corals in the range to but this is definitely my most worn and loved. Beautiful!

So there you have it, my sunset sensation. I actually think they look really good together and am tempted to paint each nail in each polish as I have done with my tester fan.

smashbox -It’s Your Prime

smashbox primers

Hello Everyone,

I did the extremely silly thing of picking a product up from the shelves in the beauty store queue last week – ooops! However, turns out is was a good, silly thing after all. I do have a couple of primers, including Urban Decay’s Eye Primer and Benefit’s face primer, but saw this little trio on offer at £14 and thought I would give some new primer products a go. Interestingly this set contains an under eye primer, which I found intriguing as this is a sad area for me, All in all I’m pretty pleased with the purchase and have been using them all week.

Collages15smashbox, photo finish foundation primer – travel size

Considering this is a mini bottle there is a considerable amount of product. This is very similar to the Benefit primer which I like. It is a little less grainy and feels less obvious on my skin which I like as sometimes I feel primers dry my skin out a little.

Collages16smash, photo finish lid primer – mini

I really like this. It sets very quickly so you can apply eyeshadow almost straight away and the tone is perfect for my skin, covering any blue areas of skin. I’m quite useless at using eye primer but have been popping this on everyday this week and have noticed a dramatic difference in the staying power of my eye makeup.

smashbox primers1smashbox, hydrating under eye primer

This is a lovely little product. The formula is not thick so no caking at all, and the light tone lightens under the eyes. I have noticed the length of time my concealer has stayed on during the day too which is great.

I would definitely recommend this little set to anyone that hasn’t used primers before or doesn’t use them very often. My product of the week for sure. If you fancy hearing about other products I am loving, be sure to follow me on twitter and join me in a little beauty chat. 🙂

Mini Makeup HAUL – Real Techniques, Sleek, NXY, Lord & Berry

Collages11

Hello Everyone,

I had a little splurge online this week and thought I’d share the products with you. Some of them are items I’ve been wanting for a while, while others are new brands to me. They were all really reasonably priced too which is always a bonus. 🙂

haul juneLord & Berry –

Smudge Proof Eyeliner in Black £7.50             Lipstick Pencil in Cherry £8

I have never owned any products from this brand but had seen the lipstick pencils on vloggers videos and heard lots about the eyeliner too. The pencil is an amazingly pigmented lipstick. The formula is matte and opaque but isn’t at all dry on the lips. The lasting wear isn’t amazing but I always enjoy re-applying on a night out anyway. Honestly though, it’s the vibrant colour red/pink colour that I love so much about it. It sure does pack a punch.

As for the eyeliner, it wears well without smudging or disappearing. The texture of the pencil is quite soft, so if you’re looking for a fine line I wouldn’t choose this. I’m sure I’ll be looking up more of their products soon.

haul june3

Sleek – I-Divine Eyeshadow Palette in, Au Naturel £7.70

I can never get over the fantastic pricing of Sleek products. They are always extremely pigmented, last a long time and come in such a variety of shades and styles. I already own the infamous Storm Palette but as I’ve been wearing brighter lips and cheeks recently I wanted a good natural shaded palette. Au Naturel seemed perfect for that. It has every neutral shade you could ask for, including a mixture of matte and shimmers. I love the shades taupe and cappuccino with mineral earth blended into the crease. There’s also got a good white for the corner of the eye and a black for lining. Perfect!

haul june4

NYX – Blush in Red £7.00

I can’t believe I don’t own any NYX products! I searched the web for a dupe blush for Mac’s Frankley Scarlet this weekend and this was the best I found. I love it! It’s the perfect balance of pink and red, is pigmented and wonderfully blendable. It also matched my new lippy! Most of my blushes are pinks or coral so a red toned one is a perfect addition to ever0growing collection. I had to buy this online so I’m not sure if the prices are cheaper in the shops but I was quite happy to pay this amount for a lovely blush.

haul june6Real Techniques –

Your eyes/enhanced starter brush set £17.85     Fine Liner Brush £5.95

I am a huge fan of the real techniques brushes and already won most of the orange (face) collection. If you want a reasonably priced brush set, this is definitely the one to buy as the brushes look great and are easy to use. Although I use my Mac 217 I don’t really own any decent eye brushes. I love this little collection as it has everything I need. I did also buy the fine liner brush too as I think the one in the kit will be a little thick for the liner I usually wear.

Looking back over my purchases I’m very excited. Luckily I have the perfect hen weekend to play with them. Let me know if you want to see the look I come up with for that. Also don’t forget to add me on bloglovin, twitter and Instagram using the buttons at the top of my sidebar.

GLOSSYBOX June 2013

june

Hello Everyone,

First off I wanted to share with you my favourite product from last month’s box.

may4This tiny little tub has been emptied from everyday use and I definitely intend on buy the full size product. I enjoyed this product so much that it even made its way onto my May Favourites, something I don’t think a beauty box product has done before. I have experimented with this mixing media to create cream blushes, and shadows but the best way to use it is to mix it up into foundation for a smooth, flawless look. When I was younger, before I bought decent foundations, I always used to add a little moisturiser into them to rid of any caking. This product gives similar results and is perfect for using up any thicker or more cakey foundations you may have lying around, instantly turning them into the perfect formula.

glossybox june 13

Moving onto more recent excitement; my June box is here and I like it. Bright and Summery, the products in the box look like winners to me and I have already had a go at most of them. Here we go:

june2NUXE – Huile Prodigieuse OR 100ml £34

Pictures cannot show how stunning this product is. I have never seen anything so gold! This is a multi-purpose product that can be used on the face, body and hair. As a dry oil it isn’t sticky at all and soaks into the skin quickly, leaving behind a very subtle shimmery glow. After reading my fave blogger Essie Button‘s review on this product just days before my box arrived, I am very excited to try it on my hair. Go check out her post for a more detailed look into the product. I think this is a big winner!

figs & rouge

Figs & Rouge- Cherry Blossom £5

The packaging does appear to replicate my favourite balm brand ‘L’Occitaine’ but it’s funky and bright and the lip balm inside is different to any products I have in my lip collection. I don’t very often go for sparkly lips but this formula is actually quite cute. The shimmer particles are tiny and the pink is just sheer enough to give a hint of colour without being too much. I like it and think it will look great on sunny days with simple eye makeup. The only drawback for me is that it has no scent and does taste a little ‘plasticky’.

helen E eyeshadow

Helen E Cosmetics – Shimmer Eye Powder £5

If you like a sparkly pigment then this is for you! Very similar to Barry M & Mac’s it packs on beautiful glittery colour and lasts a long time. I’m not really a pink eye shadow girl but this is fun and I’m sure I will get use out of it as its so pretty. I also love the little tub it comes in, although I haven’t mastered the awkward lid yet.

mememe nail polish

MEMEME Cosmetics – Long Lasting Nail Gloss

I don’t own any products from this brand but on first inspection I loved the colour. I was pleased to read that it had a maxi-brush for application. This is normally something I prefer as I find it easier to apply neatly with just three strokes of the brush. Sadly, the end of this brush wasn’t cut straight so application was very difficult. I would hope this was an error on my brush alone as it really did spoil the product for me, especially when the formula was shiny and long-lasting.

monu moistureMONU Professional Skincare – Hydrating Moisturiser spf15 50ml £29.99

I have had a few of the MONU products in past boxes and to be honest have never really taken to them. I always find the packaging a little tatty cheap, which as I haven’t ever seen a full size product could just be the quality used for testers. I am always on the lookout for a good face cream though so will be sure to give this a go and see if it lives up to its toning and perfecting promises.

Overall I’m pretty pleased with the bunch this month. I can’t wait to use some of the products and will be sure to let you know if any make my must-have list.

May Wishlist 2013

IMG_0653

Hello Everyone,

This month my wishes are all simple but beautiful products. I have been wearing lots of Summer dresses with simple eye makeup, bronzed peachy coral cheeks and bright lips, so these are all products that would fit in well with this look. Infact, with a little BB cream, together they would create a lovely look as a collection.

1. YSL, Volupte Sheer Candy in No4 (£23) – I have this lippy in no6 and always thought it would be my only one due to the price. Recently I have worn it so much that I am finding it hard to resist the urge of buying myself just one more. They are beautiful!

2. TheBalm, Hot Mama Eyeshadow/Blush (£12.50) – I recently discovered TheBalm products when I purchased a recommended product called Mary Lou Manizer, a stunning gold highlighter. I have since had a peek at their other bits and pieces and noticed this powder. It reminds me of a lighter Sleek Rose Gold/MAC Stereo Rose with its gold particles running through it.

3. The Balm, Time Balm Concealer(£19)  This product also jumped out at me as it had god reviews. I am always looking for new under eye concealers to try and this one intrigues me.

4. MAC, Paintpot in MoonCake (£14.50) – This beauty is part of the baking beauty collection. (that’s another post of its own). I have always wanted a paintpot but have never got round to choosing which one. As soon as I saw this I knew it would be the perfect colour for me. I love a neutral shimmer and this one also has a nice bronze tone to it. Perfect for the Summer!

5. Stila, Cream Blush in Poppy & Gladiola (£16) – These are stunning blushes so its no wonder they are trending all over the beauty world. I don’t own many cream blushes but do like them and these two colours always look so lovely on people, giving them a fresh and healthy look.

6. Avon, Supershock Max Mascara (£8), Since buying my Dior New Look Mascara last year , I have found a new love for a plastic wand. They seem to grip my eyelashes a lot more than my other ones. This mascara has a fantastic looking wand so I thought it would be fun to try it out.

Am I missing something on my wishlist? Any must haves I should know about? Let me know in the comments below and add a link to your wish list for the month.

My Week In Instagram 4

instagram week 4

Hello Everyone,

It’s been a long week but a fun and busy one. My boyfriend Tink is away for work so I have had the house and Nessie all to myself. I’m definitely not cut out to be a single mum haha. As I have spent so much time with the pupp, she features well in this week’s pictures.

Goodnight Products – The items on my bedside table differ from week to week but recently I have had some bits that have stayed by my side at night: Lavender Sleep Spray, Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream (for my lips), Estee Lauder Night Serum and eye serum, Revlon Polish in Sorbet.

Daffodils – This bunch was so perfect they didn’t look real. In a bright green vase they gave such a Summery feeling to my living room. Huge like!

Playing – It’s been a week of entertaining the dog and we have had lots of fun tumbling around on the carpet. I sent this one to Tink. 🙂

Buttons – I love button, and this £1.99 tin from B&M is the cutest. Now I just need to decide what to do with it.

Calm Time – I don;t know if her eyesight is getting better but Nessie has started to enjoy a good watch recently. First the football on TV and a good people watch out of the window.

Home Sweet Home – After buying a new bench with heart-shaped cut outs this a few weeks ago, I couldn’t resist this little bird-cage from Dunelm.

Bed Head – After a nap, Ness looked so cute and fluffy!

Daisy Chain – This beautiful necklace from Buttonsy with real flowers in was featured on my last post. It is absolutely gorgeous!

Femergy? – If anyone has used this product I would love to know. Through a joke conversation at work I am now trialling this energy (all natural, caffeine free) tablet. I haven;t been taking it long enough to review but if it works out well I shall let you know.

That about sums up my week in pics. Lots of time has also been spent with friends but somehow I didn’t manage to get any pictures of that. Next time!

March Beauty Favourites

faves2

Hello Everyone,

This post has ended up being a little late but I still had to share my favourites with you for last month as they were products that I used most days and aswell as some expected faves, there are a few surprises in their too.

march faves collage

I’m not really a photo of my face fan but wanted to show you how I used the products to create a natural Spring look. I used all of these products for my everyday makeup as they are simple, quick to apply and brighten up my face. I will be reviewing some of these products in more depth soon and others are already included in posts which I will link below.

La Roche-Posay – Toleraine A light moisturiser that I have been loving as a base under foundation. See Review Here.

Clarins – Instant Light Complexion Perfector in Rose Shimmer This is a beautiful product that gives a very subtle highlight to the cheeks. It can also be used under foundation to give the skina dewy glow. Full review coming soon.

Revlon – Colorbust Lipgloss in Papaya Not usually a gloss fan, I adore this peachy coral gloss. For days when you don’t want a lipstick look but still want lovely lips. HAUL and more pics here.

OPI – Nail Envy Wowee this stuff is amazing! strengthens and lengthens like a trooper. I will be reviewing this very soon. Stay posted!

Sleek – Trio Blush in Lace I love this trio. Last month I favoured this too,  but mainly the center blush. This month I have been using the other two aswell. As crazy bright as it looks, it actually gives a beautiful tint to the cheeks. I use a large blush brush to sweep it on the apples and just under the cheek bones, Recently I have been using Chantilly, the more orange/coral colour to match the Revlon lip gloss.

17 Va Va Voom I bought this a while back and wasnt quite sure whether I liked it or not (thoughts here). One day when I was wearing a simple eye shadow look I thought I would give it a try as I remembered it layered up to give a dramatic look. This time I applied one coat and was pleased with the length it gave my lashes. If applied carelessly it can look a little clumpy but I found myself reaching for this most days this month and it has now moved into my ‘frequently used mascara draw’.

So that’s it for this month. I’m sure as always I have missed some favourites that I will later moan at myself for forgetting but these were the products I had written down on my makeup draw postet.

I love reading monthly favourite posts so please do comment below with your links.

Have a happy April, xxx

Skincare Review, La Roche-Posay

posay1

Toleraine – 40ml, £14.50      Effaclar Duo – 40ml, £13

Hello Everyone,

I thought I would share a new favourite with you today. In fact, it’s a pairing that I have recently discovered and have fallen in love with.

I have posted about the La Roche-Posay Effaclar before but hadn’t used it for a good period of time. I have now tested both of these products for a month or so and am really pleased with the results.

I heard about Effaclar from a fellow blogger AModelRecommends. This serum is intended for the whole face to minimise imperfections and to unclog pores but I actually only use it on problem areas before I go to sleep as I have other products that I use for the whole face. This is great for helping to sort out any red areas, dry skin patches or blemishes, especially around my chin and nose.

Although I use a night moisturiser, I needed something to apply over my face as a base for foundation. I asked around and many people told me to look at other La Roche-Posay products. There are quite a few different moisturisers to choose from in their collection so I ended up sitting on the floor of Boots researching each one to help me decide. I seem to have a habit of doing this in Boots when I can’t decide what to buy…oops.

Finally I decided to go for the Toleraine moitursier for combination skin. This product is meant to hydrate and protect irritated skin. My skin isn’t doing too badly at the moment but I liked the idea of a good skin drencher in the morning.

The formula itself is quite thin which gave me doubts in the beginning. A little goes a long way and although the formula is quite ‘wet’, it does smooth over the skin nicely and leaves my face dewy and velvety, which is a great base for my foundations. I’m not sure I would recommend it for anyone with particularly oily skin, as I think they have better fitting products in their collection, but anyone with dry or combination may want to give it a go.

Overall I am really impressed with this little combination. Along-side my Liz Earle routine, it has worked really well at keeping my skin bright, blemish free and has evened out my skin well.

I am really interested to know if anyone uses any other products by this brand and how it works for them. It is nice to find a reasonably priced product that does the job.
